baby is officially one day over due!!!

well... its now technically Saturday 25th July 2009.... ok so only by 40 minutes... but that means baby is officially over due!!! There are so many hints and tips people give you to get things moving... so here are a few of the things i have tried...

1. I hiked up and down the stairs yesterday 15 times (david's mum suggested this one - it worked for her when she was expecting David!)

2. I cooked and ate a "hot" curry for dinner tonight! (or atleast thats what it said on the jar - it wasnt that hot afterall)

3. one friend told me that if you go into labour in tesco they give you a years supply of nappies... so we had a little walk around tesco today.

4. Gardening

5. squats

6. sitting upright on a hard chair (midwife suggested this would make sure baby is in the right position and would get it out sooner)

7. the unmentionable

8. rockband - ok so thats not proven to induce labour... but i wanted to play so i did!!!

nothing is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still need to try fresh pineapple - forgot to buy one today when we were in tesco...ooops!!

will keep you updated... but at the moment it looks as though the move may occur first!!!

the race is on...

so... baby is due in 5 days....

and we are due to move house in 7 days....

the race is on!!!! david told baby to come out today... cos he wants cuddles... so we will see how obedient baby is... but so far nothing!!! i would be very happy to have the baby in the next few days... but unfortunatly baby gets to decide when to grace us with his/her presence!! knowing our luck at the moment i will go into labour as we are signing the tenancy agreement on the new house... I am just glad i am generally not a stressy person... cos this might tip some people over the edge... but to me its all very exciting and i keep drawing plans of where i want all the furniture in the new house and making plans for the move!! so sad i know!

will keep this updated as the who wins the race... baby or the house?????????????

My baby shower back in June...

my wonderful sister Jo threw me a baby shower back in June at her house in Blackwater... she prepared lots of fun game, lots of lovely food and helped everyone to get me wonderful gifts...

Here are a few pics from my baby shower...

this is a game that was prepared by Karen Birch, she melted chocolate bars into nappies and i had to taste them to guess which choc bar they were... looked gross but tasted pretty good...

I couldnt believe how generous everyone was....

This travel cot was full to overflowing with Nappies, wipes and all sorts of other useful bits and peices including some beautiful baby blankets that I started making years ago and gave up on as i could not figure out how to do the corners, Viv, my sisters mother in law kindly finished the blankets for me and they are stunning! they are white with blue winnie the pooh outlines on them! cant wait to snuggle baby down with them...

amoungst all of the nappies mum had also got us an amazing high chair and the travel cot came from Sam, her business partner.... I have so many thankyou cards to write... and we have been so blessed to have enough nappies for literally months and months so we wont have to spend loads of money!! woooop

THANKYOU to everyone who came and contributed to this amazing pressie!!

A wonderful sunday...

We have had a wonderful day together today.... church was amazing, the talks were about the Atonement and the spirit was especially strong as David gave a talk. I love him so much and am so grateful for his Testimony and strength!

Baby has been very active today and is happy swimming around in mummy's tummy, we are eager for baby to arrive so we can meet him or her and see who baby looks like. I had some niggles on friday and was convinced I was in the early stages of labour, but since then all has been quiet so we are still waiting!!

So here is a pic of me from friday - i was 38 weeks exactly! The midwife says baby is 4/5 engaged so almost ready to pop out! we heard the heart beat again which was fantastic! and my bump is measuring perfectly for the number of weeks I am... although it looks huge!

Here are the photos i promised!

July 2009

oooooooooops

so I totally forgot about our blog and therefore have not updated it for a long long time... thanks for the reminder ben...

Its only 2 weeks and 3 days til baby is due... which officially means i could pop at any given time. Everything is ready for baby... oh except the fact that we have to move house 3 days after baby is due!!! We have lived in this house for a little over 6 months, we love it here, we are right by the park and were hoping we would be able to stay here til david graduates from Uni. But alas a few weeks ago we recieved a letter from the letting agency letting us know of the lanlords plans to sell the property and therefore kicking us out! so in a blind panic we went online and looked at flat after flat after flat praying we could find a house within our budget... and we did... we have put in all the papers and are waiting for references etc to come back and then we should get the keys on 27th july, just 3 days after baby is due... crazy times, so we are packing like crazy at the moment trying to get all organised just incase baby comes early!!

My wonderful sister Jo threw me an amazing baby shower back in June, it was at her house in Blackwater, lots of family and friends there to spoil me and make me play silly games... like the "dirty nappy" game - Karen Birch melted chocolate bars into nappies to make them look like disgusting pooey nappies and i had to taste and guess which chocolate bars they were... tasted good but was soooo wrong!! I also had to taste baby food and guess the ingredients! and pin the dummy on the baby! I was so spoiled... i have never seen so many pressies, we have more than enough nappies for the first few months which is such a blessing!!

We have been to a few weddings aswell, Alex and Hannah Burgess got married in Preston, Alex is one of David's closest friends from before his mission and was such an honour to be there. they both looked fantastic and was a fun weekend as we travelled up to preston with Phil and Carly Sewell - friends from Bristol which was a lot of fun! Then we went to Ashton and Stevens wedding in Winchester which was also beautiful. I love going to weddings as it reminds us of our wedding and how much we love each other... cheesy i know!

I finished work back in June so am chilling out at the moment waiting for baby to arrive, David has finished uni for the summer, he struggled to find a job as we only wanted him to work part time with baby coming and in september he starts working full time at southmead hospital as part of his uni course so noone wanted to employ him for the few months it would be! oh well, we have absolutley loved having this time together and I will be so happy to have him around to help me when baby arrives, and because of this move its perfect that he is home to help me pack and to move all the stuff when the time comes!

not a lot else to report... i have a midwife appointment tomorrow so we will see how baby is getting along... i am convinced baby has moved down and is now engaged but we will see!!!

i will keep this more up to date... well i will try

keep in touch.. penny_2p@yahoo.co.uk

oh by the way... it wont let me upload pics today... so will try later

baby pilk kicked david in the head!

hey

so baby moves around a lot now, the only way i can describe it is like bubbles popping inside you... but the more you get used to it the more it feels like a baby moving around... david was trying to listen to baby swimming around last week and baby pilk didnt like it, so baby pilk decided to kick daddy in the head... how funny! this baby doesnt like it when the midwife tries to listen to its heart beat either and kicks away... which is funny to feel it and hear it on her machine at the same time. everything is fine with the pregnancy... i am measuring perfectly the right size at the moment, the only complaints i have are terrible heartburn which used to be only in the evenings but is slowling creeping into my day aswell. Whoever created double action, mint gaviscon i will love forever!!!! i have a bit of a bump thats been forming now since about week 19 and it seems to get bigger every day... this is me at 21 weeks...

so baby pilk is growing fine and dandy, we are so happy in our new house (well we moved in jan, so not that new), its great having a garden, i even did some gardening this week... oooh there is a first time for everything! We dont have a lot of baby things yet but are slowly getting things together... still have 18 weeks to get it all so no rush at all! I am still working and plan to work until the middle of June - about 34 weeks pregnant so should be pretty huge by then ha ha ha.

David just finished a 2 week placement at Gloucester hospital audiology department which he totally loved! he got to work a lot in the paediatric dept and test lots of little babies hearing. He espcially enjoyed meeting "the cutest little downs syndrome baby ever" for some tests. I love it when he works on placement because i see how happy he is going to be in his job when he graduates from university. He struggles sometimes at uni, he loves the lectures and finds then really interesting and loves learning, but he hates essays - i think we can all relate! but starting in september he will be working at southmead hospital full time (and he will be getting paid woop) and then it wont be long before he qualifies! The only thing i didnt like about his placement this time was the commute... he left the house before i got up... about 6.30am and he didnt get back until around 7pm... yuck... i never want him to commute again! I want to live cycling distance to where he works! I missed him so much. Now i am grateful for that opportunity as it really reminded us how much we love each other and really love spending time together in the evenings!!!!!!

the other exciting thing in our lives right now is that on saturday we are getting a new car... wooop, our car has served us well and considering david got it for £300 2 years ago it has done well... but it doesnt always start first time now and it needs a service and some work doing... so we thought now is a good time before baby arrives to get a more reliable car with 5 doors, so here is the pic... its a bargain and we are super excited... me mainly about the size of the boot ha ha ha ha seriously you could fit 2 or 3 adults in it comfortably ha ha ha ha.

Baby Pilkington @ 20 weeks...

what an eventful week last week was... on thursday evening the passenger side window of our car got smashed by some kids... who luckily got seen by a neighbour before they could steal anything! it turns out we have really good neighbours!! one man stayed outside with us and helped us sweep up the glass and cover the window... what a hero!!! Police came really quickly but they boys cycled into the park as soon as they were seen and therefore were never seen again! bummer...

anyway... on friday we drove to southmead hospital for the 20 week scan... with one window looking like chavs and surrounded by glass in the car.... the 20 weeks scan is a routine scan to check baby is growing well... and it turns out he/she is... we have decided not to find out what baby is... the mosr suprises the better!!! baby not suprisingly has long legs... going to be a tall one! everything else was great... baby wouldnt move when the midwive wanted it to... stubborn sleeping baby... david and i are both heavy sleepers and so its not suprising that baby wouldnt wake up and move no matter how much we prodded and poked and i even had to jump around a bit!!!!! babys tummy measurement was a little bigger than usual and we may need another scan but its nothing too much to worry about and any excuse to see baby on that little screen makes me happy!!!! it is so exciting to watch baby grow and as you will see from the picture baby has changed lots since the 12 weeks scan... everything is formed now, now baby just needs to get lots bigger before july! i love looking at the scan pic and looking at its little face awwwww... wonder wh0 its going to look like!!!!

after the scan we went to southmead police station for our car to be dusted for prints... they did actually find one and so david and i went through the fun and excitement of having our prints taken to rule us out!!

its now tuesday 10.03.09 and we have had a new window put in the car and the glass is all gone... but we took the stereo out of the car to prevent the chavs coming back for it while we had not window and its still sitting in the house... so we are musicless... oh well.

An update...

well it is now Feb 2009... I totally forgot I created this blog! so now I am going to update it and keep it up to date!

so since mid 2008...

as you can tell from the picture I am pregnant.. I am 18 weeks at the moment but here is the scan picture from when i was 12 weeks. I have been so blessed throughout this pregnancy and have been so well. I felt sick for a while but i wasnt sick at all. The only thing I have suffered with a few times is heartburn but I am learning to live with it. We have heard the babies heart beat a few times with the midwife... its always exciting to hear it, it beats so quickly! We have the 20 weeks scan on March 6th and are so excited to see how much our little baby has grown. We have decided that we are not going to find out the sex of the baby, we are excited for the suprise! I am due july 24th which happens to be my neices 2nd birthday!
We have moved house as we had some nasty damp problems after a leak in our old flat. But we now have a house! it is lovely, 2 bedrooms - perfect for our new arrival in july.
