time to reflect...

Jacob has been sick for a week or so now, a nasty stomach bug, until this past week i have taken for granted what a fantastically chilled out and calm baby we have, he is always so content and happy, full of smiles and giggles for us. He has always been happy to meet new people and loves to go out and see things, he is like a sponge, soaking up everything around him. What Joy this little boy of only 9 months has created in our lives! Having Jacob has opened our eyes and given us a small +gli7mp87?pppppp/'#@.llllllllllllll. (thats Jacob contribution to the blog) a small glimpse of how much God loves us! It is fantastic! I remember when he was very small (well, he was never small) i used to just look at him and be in awe of Gods creation and plan for us here on earth!

This week has been hard work, he has wanted lots of cuddles and is much more tearful and very shy, even of me and david sometimes. he is eating better now and is on the mend, but watching my poor boy suffer is not much fun!

So many plans ahead of us, its all getting quite exciting now, this time next year david will have a job set ready to start when he graduates which means we will know where we are going to live for the next few years atleast. we LOVE it here in Bristol and if he can get a job at Southmead Hospital (where he has been on placement this year) he would be super duper happy! they are wonderful people to work with and they are great at paying/supporting further study so he would be able to do his masters without question which is exciting! If there are no jobs here we will go wherever we need to for David to be able to work. Its an exciting prospect as who knows where we will be, we are hoping to get on a rent to buy scheme wherever we go so that we can get on the property ladder.

Jacob is becoming more and more mobile, his crawling is getting quicker and now he can pull himself to standing very easily and loves to do so. i wonder how soon he will be walking around the furniture and the without it... its a sc1are`y thought, he is turning into a little boy rather than a baby!!! for his first birthday he is having a party with his 2 cousins at a soft play that my mum owns, so will be lots of fun and free wooooo. i have been making novelty cakes recently for a few friends and i love it so am planning a great cake for the 3 of them!

I have also started a little company, very small and only in my dreams will it become sometthing i can do instead of working but i have started making scrapbooks for people, i just completed my first one for a girl from our church who is about to go on a misson to serve in germany. it was full of pics of her family and friends for her to take with her and look through to remember home.

pictures wont upload so will add them later
jacob wants a cuddle so will write more soon

Feb 2010

Jacob turned 6 months old at the beginning of this month and is changing everyday, he is so interested in everything and is really alert! Some of his favourite things to do at the moment are...
- playing peekaboo
- chewing his feet/shoes
- sitting on his play mat and playing with all of his toys
- eating (this has always been one of his favourites!)
- saying dada when we try to get him to say mama
- other babies
- calpol (he has been teething/unwell!)

we love him so much and are so excited to watch him everyday and love making him giggle and smile! no pictures to post at the moment because i am at my mums house for a week with jacob, David went back to Bristol this evening, we miss him terribly already!

Jacob jonas Pilkington 5 months later

HOW TIME FLIES!!!!

it is so crazy to think that Jacob is already 5 months old. I look back at photos and videos from the first few weeks and cant believe how small he was... I take that back, he was never small, but he has grown so much and changes every single day. I have been trying to scrapbook and keep a journal to remember all of the special moments from the past 5 months. There is so much I have missed I am sure!

I will just post a few things on here... Jacob was born on 6th August weighing a mighty 11lb 3oz, he was over the 99th percentile on the charts... and he is still over the 99th weighing in at 23lbs this week... I solely breastfed him for 3 weeks but he was loosing weight and they were unsure i was producing enough milk so we started him on a bottle aswell... he quickly put weight back on! He started having solids at about 3 and a half months! He loves his food! Here are a few other things about him...

- He sleeps on his front, and just this morning we found he was facing the other direction and had turned onto his back in his sleep!

- He can sit up without help but does tend to give up after a while and fall back so we have to put cushions behind him.

- He loves standing in his activity stations and bouncing in his door bouncer.

-He can roll from front to back but not the other way and is showing no interest in moving around much - he is lazy!

- He loves to laugh and smile.

-He loves bath time.

-He is the most contented baby who has slept through the night since he was about 6 weeks old

baby is officially one day over due!!!

well... its now technically Saturday 25th July 2009.... ok so only by 40 minutes... but that means baby is officially over due!!! There are so many hints and tips people give you to get things moving... so here are a few of the things i have tried...

1. I hiked up and down the stairs yesterday 15 times (david's mum suggested this one - it worked for her when she was expecting David!)

2. I cooked and ate a "hot" curry for dinner tonight! (or atleast thats what it said on the jar - it wasnt that hot afterall)

3. one friend told me that if you go into labour in tesco they give you a years supply of nappies... so we had a little walk around tesco today.

4. Gardening

5. squats

6. sitting upright on a hard chair (midwife suggested this would make sure baby is in the right position and would get it out sooner)

7. the unmentionable

8. rockband - ok so thats not proven to induce labour... but i wanted to play so i did!!!

nothing is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still need to try fresh pineapple - forgot to buy one today when we were in tesco...ooops!!

will keep you updated... but at the moment it looks as though the move may occur first!!!

the race is on...

so... baby is due in 5 days....

and we are due to move house in 7 days....

the race is on!!!! david told baby to come out today... cos he wants cuddles... so we will see how obedient baby is... but so far nothing!!! i would be very happy to have the baby in the next few days... but unfortunatly baby gets to decide when to grace us with his/her presence!! knowing our luck at the moment i will go into labour as we are signing the tenancy agreement on the new house... I am just glad i am generally not a stressy person... cos this might tip some people over the edge... but to me its all very exciting and i keep drawing plans of where i want all the furniture in the new house and making plans for the move!! so sad i know!

will keep this updated as the who wins the race... baby or the house?????????????

My baby shower back in June...

my wonderful sister Jo threw me a baby shower back in June at her house in Blackwater... she prepared lots of fun game, lots of lovely food and helped everyone to get me wonderful gifts...

Here are a few pics from my baby shower...

this is a game that was prepared by Karen Birch, she melted chocolate bars into nappies and i had to taste them to guess which choc bar they were... looked gross but tasted pretty good...

I couldnt believe how generous everyone was....

This travel cot was full to overflowing with Nappies, wipes and all sorts of other useful bits and peices including some beautiful baby blankets that I started making years ago and gave up on as i could not figure out how to do the corners, Viv, my sisters mother in law kindly finished the blankets for me and they are stunning! they are white with blue winnie the pooh outlines on them! cant wait to snuggle baby down with them...

amoungst all of the nappies mum had also got us an amazing high chair and the travel cot came from Sam, her business partner.... I have so many thankyou cards to write... and we have been so blessed to have enough nappies for literally months and months so we wont have to spend loads of money!! woooop

THANKYOU to everyone who came and contributed to this amazing pressie!!
